Writer Buket Uzuner and Dolphin Freedom Platform collected over 74 thousand signatures during the campaign about closure of the Dolphin Park in Bodrum. With the purpose of protecting the dolphins, signatures will delivered to Bodrum Mayor Ahmet Aras.
Freedom Platform representatives Öykü Yağcı and Buket Uzuner will meet with Bodrum Mayor Ahmet Aras at 15.00 on Thursday. With the members of Bodrum City Council they will deliver 74 603 signatures collected at change.org.
After the delivery of the signatures, the press release will held at 15:30 at Bodrum Municipality Square. The statement, the amendments to the Animal Protection Law No. 1199, the addition of the article on the prohibition of dolphin parks, circus and political parties and the Parliamentary Animal Rights Research Commission will called.
The Dolphin Freedom Platform struggling to protect marine mammals under the Animal Protection Act No. 1199. Since 2014, the Platform has running a joint signature campaign with writer Buket Uzuner. In May 2014 facility with nine other dolphin park in Turkey complained to the International CITES Standing Committee.
