Fire in Mumcular
In the forest of the Gökpınar region, Mumcular, a major fire started in the afternoon. Fire brigades extinguished a fire on the ground and from the air using a helicopter.
The fire broke out after 16:00 and quickly spread under the influence of the wind. Mugla Regional Forestry Directorate sent a large number of fire engines to the region. 1 out of 9 forest management fire helicopters in Milas was sent to Mumcular. Extinguishing continues from the air and from the ground. The cause of the fire has not yet been established.
This is the fifth forest fire in the last 40 days in Mugla, which suggests a possible intention.
Fire in Milas
A forest fire in Milas quickly spread due to strong winds. Fire covered an area of about 100 hectares. As of 4 p.m., 200 firefighters, 8 helicopters, 27 pumps, 12 water tanks and 3 bulldozers took part in putting out the fire. The flames destroyed the forest, as well as agricultural land, which is mainly olive groves, turning them into ashes.
Thick fog interfered with the normal operation of the airport!
Black smoke rose from the burning fields to the sky, in addition, the neighboring residential area of Kayabaşı was full of smoke. Milas-Bodrum Airport did not accept aircraft due to poor visibility. Pilots had to wait until the smoke clears.
